Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

graves is a name that is always going to be attached to something, and this past year was no exception. in an era of course-correcting and fan-service, it was refreshing to see a label showcase an artist that wasnt trying to shove their ethos down our throats. artist-run projects like this are a wonderful way to not only draw attention to yourself, but also to your peers. the label was a champion for her single, featuring j. cole, a$ap rocky and migos, which is a very tricky thing to be. on the one hand, the track was an incredible fluke of timing and a masterful feat of songwriting. on the other hand, if it wasnt for the fact that it went to no. 1 in the country, its chances of being a smash would have been nigh-impossible. with r.i.p, gravys experiment was a success: one of the first times that a major-label released a track that wasnt an obvious sing-along, one that relied on the sensibility of the featured artists to show the genre could be more than just one-dimensional. it was about the idea that music can be an experience, not just a catchy bit of music to play on repeat, and that took time and dedication from all involved. there is no grand grand theory or philosophical message for anything or anyone to be gleaned from this work; it was just a great listen and a great way to show the world that music is something more than just a science. mike hilleary

peak of zayn's career: the year of the single. though nothing quite matched the emotional and critical success of his tidal x single, pillowtalk was one of the year's best singles. there was something about the gentle but strong pop production that is perfect for his emotive voice, and it is easy to see why he might come back to this in years to come. pillowtalk carried a nostalgia for the halcyon days of teen heartthrobs and pop-album sales charts, with a subtle nod to the music of his youth. but it also had a clever way of addressing the social media furore surrounding the #freepez campaign. zayn spoke openly about his struggles with anxiety, and how his tweet-insulting of the pez brand has helped him to deal with the feelings. he came out as someone who might have once found pleasure in his idols but now, their existence is simply something to be found in his past. kieran donohue 84d34552a1
