Make sure you have the chipset drivers installed for the specific version of windows you are running. I would try searching for the realtek 8139 NIC drivers for your win7 machine on the microsoft site. I use the search feature on win update to help search for drivers, it works a lot better than looking in device manager.

Yes, I'm sure there are drivers for Win 7 installed on the Windows disk. But I was getting the crashes when Windows 7 was installed. When the system was in safe mode there were no driver problems. It only came when the system was not in safe mode. My first thought was if it was a matter of drivers. So i've tried searching for Win 7 drivers on the realtek and intel website. The drivers are there. I even tried looking in custom tab on the Windows update site. No luck. In fact i noticed that Intel's driver was offered before installing Windows 7, but only the Realtek's driver showed up in the "Custom" tab.

The problem on the second PCI card is a realtek 8139 cp edition card. I was using that card with Linux and that worked fine. The NIC is now being used in the Windows 7 setup and that is the only system I use the card on. It crashed when I updated Windows 7. The problem still exists and only happens when the system is not in safe mode. So windows has to be the system that causes the problem.

What version of realtek driver are you using? I have the same exact problem. The NIC does not crash at all when in Linux. The only thing I can assume about the problem is that it is caused by the operating system. I have no clues what could be causing this problem. 84d34552a1
