Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Workplace

This is a wrapper for the Workplace Platform API. It has been designed to be easily used with promises. The api docs can be seen at: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/workplace/integrations/custom-integrations/reference

Table of Contents

Getting Started

To install the package, simply run:

npm install workplace --save

Then, simply load up the package and set the access token:

const WP = require('workplace');
WP.setAccessToken(<ACCESS_TOKEN_HERE>);

API Reference

Making a Post

Once the package is set up, you can post to a group like this:

const groupID = <YOUR_GROUP_ID>;
const data = {
  message: 'text body of the message',
  url: 'example.com/my_photo.jpg' // optional photo url with your post
};
let response = await WP.postToGroup(groupID, data);

Sending Messages

Workplace integrations have the ability to send a variety of message types directly or to groups of individuals. Specifically, you can send:

  • Text
  • Images
  • Videos
  • Audio
  • Templates

This wrapper includes a few useful abstractions to make sending a message simple.

Use the WP.Message namespace to construct a message of various types:

To send a text message, use the WP.Message.Text wrapper to generate your message

// text messages
const message = WP.Message.Text('hello, world');

// hosted and local images
const imageMessageFromURL = WP.Message.Image('example.com/image.jpg');
const localImageMessage = WP.Message.LocalImage('path/to/file.jpg');

// hosted and local videos
const videoMessageFromURL = WP.Message.Video('example.com/video.mp4');
const localVideoMessage = WP.Message.LocalVideo('path/to/file.mp4');

// hosted and local audio files
const audioMessageFromURL = WP.Message.Audio('example.com/video.mp3');
const localAudioMessage = WP.Message.LocalAudio('path/to/file.mp3');

// send a custom json message template
const messageTemplate = WP.Message.Template(payload)

Then specify IDs and send the message away!

await WP.sendMessage(<id(s)>, message);

FB API Object

The FB API is directly exposed for anything that this API wrapper does not include. It can be accessed in the following way:

const fbAPI = WP.api;

This API is taken from the npm package FB
