Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Windows message events

This package is used to send and recieve messages between windows of the browser. There are some features which is applicable only when the application running in the iframe.

Installation

npm i windows-message

Usage

import { WindowMessage } from 'windows-message';
requestConfig

This funcation can be used if the application is loaded inside iframe and it requires some configuration from parent

WindowMessage.requestConfig(hostURL, parent);
requestExit

If application is loaded in the iframe then child application can send request to close the iframe window

WindowMessage.requestExit(hostURL, parent);

Here hostURL referes to the window, where the message to be sent. parent is boolean, if passed then it will send message to the parent window.

selectConfig

Configuration will be recieved in the Observable provided like

WindowMessage.selectConfig(hostURL)
    .subscribe(event => {
        // Do something
    });
selectEvents

Child can also subscribe to all the events trigered

WindowMessage.selectEvents(hostURL)
    .subscribe(event => {
        // Do something
    });
