Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

VPS Buddy

A simple VPS monitoring tool using PM2.

Installation

  1. Install vps-buddy globally:

    npm install -g vps-buddy
  2. Install PM2 globally if you haven't already:

    npm install -g pm2

Usage

  1. Start vps-buddy:

    vps-buddy pm2 [port] [secret-key]

    Example:

    vps-buddy pm2 3000 my-secret-key

    If no port or secret key is provided, the default values (3008 and 'default-secret-key') will be used.

  2. Enter the details into the ServerBuddy.io dashboard to monitor your VPS.

    Replace your-vps-ip, port, and your-secret-key with your actual VPS IP address, the port you specified (or 3008 if you didn't specify one), and your secret key.

PM2 Management

  • To stop vps-buddy:

    pm2 stop vps-buddy
  • To restart vps-buddy:

    pm2 restart vps-buddy
  • To view logs:

    pm2 logs vps-buddy
  • To monitor all processes:

    pm2 monit

Note

Make sure to keep your secret key confidential to prevent unauthorized access to your VPS stats.
