Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

ts-node-yeelight

Typescript implementation of the original library by jamesblanksby. Offers a few classes to interact with Xiaomi Yeelight devices in one's local network.

Usage

Simply include the Yeelight instance in your typescript files.

import { Yeelight } from 'ts-node-yeelight';

API

Fields

| Field | Type | Purpose | |:-------:|:----------------:|:---------------------------------------------------------------------:| | options | YeelightOptions | Contains the instance's options. Can be changed after initialization. | | devices | YeelightDevice[] | Array of YeelightDevices registered with the instance. |

Yeelight(options: IYeelightOptionFields)

All methods are dynamic, which means one needs to first create a new Yeelight instance.

const yeelight = new Yeelight();

The Yeelight constructor accepts an options object as argument.

const options: IYeelightOptionFields = {
    listenPort: 45065,
    listenAddress: '0.0.0.0',

    discoveryPort: 1982,
    discoveryAddress: "239.255.255.250",
    discoveryMsg: 'M-SEARCH * HTTP/1.1\r\nMAN: \"ssdp:discover\"\r\nST: wifi_bulb\r\n',
    discoveryTimeoutSeconds: 5,
}

All options fields are optional.

discover()

Sends the message specified in the istance's options to the also specified address and port. Listens for a reply from Yeelight devices and proceeds to register each of them in its devices field.

sendMessage(message: string, address: string)

Sends a message to the device specified by the address argument.

addDevice(device: YeelightDevice)

Adds a pre-populated YeelightDevice to the devices fields of the instance.

TODO

There are many functionalities that are yet to be implemented, either from the original library or from ideas i came up with. Feel free to create an issue if you think a feature has not been implemented or needs some sort of fixing, and I will look into it as soon as i manage to.

  • Change device color
  • Change device brightness
  • Offer interfaces for low-level interaction (e.g. send a poweroff request with 200ms as transition time)

Disclaimer

This is my very first public library so I will do my best to keep it maintained.
