Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Tracktics Google Analytics Plugin

Tracktics plugin for providing Google Analytics support.

npm Version Build Status Test Coverage Dependency Status

Installation

Install using npm:

$ npm install tracktics-google-analytics

Usage

Basic usage that integrates with Google Analytics in a simple jQuery app:

<button id="purchase-button"
        type="button"
        data-tracktics-on="click"
        data-tracktics-category="button">Purchase</button>
'use strict';

var $ = require('jquery'),
    tracktics = require('tracktics'),
    tracker = tracktics();

// Register the Google Analytics plugin.
tracker.use(require('tracktics-google-analytics')());

$(document).ready(function() {
    // Add event listeners for mouse events on elements that have had
    // data-tracktics-* attributes defined.
    tracker.bind();
});

Declarative Analytics Tracking

In addition to the attributes data-tracktics-on and data-tracktics-event provided by Tracktics, tracktics-google-analytics supports the following:

data-tracktics-category (required)

The only additionally required attribute for Google Analytics functionality, data-tracktics-category is used to specify category data for the event. Typically category is the object that was interacted with (e.g., "button").

data-tracktics-label

Used to specify label data for the event. This is useful for further categorizing events (e.g., "nav buttons").

data-tracktics-value

Used to specify value data for the event. Value must be a non-negative number. Useful for passing counts (e.g., 4 times).

API

tracktics-google-analytics([windowObject])

var tracktics = require('tracktics'),
    trackticsGa = require('tracktics-google-analytics'),
    tracker = tracktics();

tracker.use(trackticsGa());

The main tracktics-google-analytics export, tracktics-google-analytics is a factory function for generating tracktics-google-analytics plugin instances. Calling this method returns an object that implements page and event tracking for Google Analytics. The plugin will intelligently look for a ga function in the global window namespace, but if ga cannot be found, or the wrong ga is found, ga can be manually specified by providing a window object placeholder to the function.

#trackPage(url)

Method for manual page tracking.

#trackEvent(action, options)

Method for manual event tracking. Available options:

  • category (required)
  • label
  • value
