Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Angular TN County Datamap

An Angular module for selecting Tennessee counties from a svg map.

Single select example

Installation

In your project's root, run

bower install tn-datamaps --save
--OR--
npm install tn-datamaps --save

In addition to having AngularJS installed, you will need a reference to the following source files:

  • underscore.js
  • d3.js
  • topojson.js
  • datamaps.all.js
  • angular-datamaps.js
  • tnDatamaps.js

An example order could look like so:

<script src="bower_components/angular/angular.min.js"></script>
<script src="bower_components/d3/d3.js"></script>
<script src="bower_components/topojson/topojson.js"></script>
<script src="bower_components/datamaps/dist/datamaps.all.js"></script>
<script src="bower_components/angular-datamaps/dist/angular-datamaps.js"></script>
<script src="bower_components/underscore/underscore.js"></script>
<script src="bower_components/tn-datamaps/tnDatamaps.js"></script>
<[your code here]>

Next, include it in your main angular module:

var app = angular.module('omgMyAngularApp', ['countyMap']);

You now have a element available for use!

Configuration

For two-way binding, the county-map directive needs three attributes: selected-counties, key, and counties.

  • selected-counties can be an array or object literal. If you want to be able to select multiple counties, make it an array; for picking single counties, bind it to a single county object.

  • key is what the directive uses to access the county name property for any given collection of counties.

  • counties is the entire list of 95 TN counties. This is probably what you are generating a list or dropdown of counties from.

Example usage:

<county-map
    selected-counties="selectedCounties"
    key="name"               <!-- { 'id': '107', 'name': 'Davidson', 'district': '3' } -->
    counties="counties"
    options="mapOptions"
</county-map>

| Datatype | Name | Description | | ------------------------------ | ----------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------- | | boolean | multiple | allow multiple counties to be selected | | object | fills | color object with 'selected' and 'defaultFill' values | | function(newCounty, geography) | onAfterCountySelect | callback function to be executed when county is clicked | | string[] | classes | optional list of classes to add to the svg map element | | string | url | optional path to topo_tn_counties.json file (defaults to '/bower_components/tn-datamaps/topo_tn_counties.json') |

$scope.mapOptions = {
    multiple: true,
    fills: {
        'defaultFill': 'tomato',
        'selected': 'lightblue'
    },
    onAfterCountySelect: function(newCounty, geography) {
        console.log(newCounty);
        console.log(geography);
    },
    classes: ['omg-my-tn-map', 'county-select'],        //adds these classes
    url: 'dist/lib/tn-datamaps/topo_tn_counties.json' //directly to the svg element
};

});
