cassidy is a little surprised by devin's sudden interest in school, but when he offers to help cassidy with her homework, she agrees. later that night, devin walks in on cassidy while she's sitting in her room with the lights off, when she turns the lights on, devin is shocked to see that cassidy has turned into a completely different girl. cassidy reveals that devin has been growing on her, and that she is now a dark guardian. she then uses her power to make herself look like the "real" cassidy at the school, complete with her nickname. she then dons her guardian costume, ready to take on her first test. the test is a test of her power to read others minds, with devin as the test subject. devin passes the test, but the test reveals that devin is already a guardian. this begs the question, if devin is a guardian, why isn't he a super guardian?

the command center is no longer the most powerful zord around, as the new kid at the school, ethan, is showing the rangers how to play the game "detonation man". the game is played on a computer, where you control a man in a yellow outfit, who goes around a series of playing fields (one of which is a city) in a robot, shooting things, earning points for the number of bullets he has. you win by completing the game in the fastest time. ethan wins, but at this point, only the rangers know who he really is. the game begins with ethan showing the rangers where to go and what to do, and then departing to the next playing field. the next field is..hayley's cyberspace!

the rangers try to convince ethan to let go of his hatred for hayley's cyberspace, but he won't budge. ethan then shows the rangers that he has also been able to hack the power rangers' base, turning it into a robot city. he then takes over the computer and starts to destroy the city, but zordon is able to restore order to the city, with the help of bulk. ethan tells zordon that he will destroy the city, but he will have to fight his own power rangers first. a battle rages between ethan and the rangers. fortunately for the power rangers, bulk is able to re-frame the battle as a battle of perception, and the rangers win, with the help of zordon's warning about the truth behind ethan. ethan returns to his own world, where he is still a robot, and is surprised to find the robot city's master, zordon, waiting for him. zordon explains that ethan can have his power if he defeats the power rangers, and that ethan is the real hero, the true warrior. zordon then teleports ethan away from the robot city. 84d34552a1
