Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Telegraf Wire Tapper

Telegraf middleware for those who tired to read over9000 unread chat messages and prefer to listen it as a podcast.

Installation

$ npm install telegraf-wiretapper

Usage

Yandex SpeechKit cloud API

This middleware uses Yandex SpeechKit to synthesize messages. You should have Yandex cloud account to access API. Middleware configuration requires Yandex cloud folder id and access key. Please follow official documentation to setup it properly.

FFmpeg

Your bot host should have FFmpeg installed.

Session

The middleware usess Telegraf session object as a storage. You can choose any implementation to make it statefull.

Important: use chat id as a session key (see bot example below).

Bot example

import Telegraf, { ContextMessageUpdate } from 'telegraf';
import { WireTapper, Configuration } from 'telegraf-wiretapper';
import LocalSession from 'telegraf-session-local';

const botToken = process.env.BOT_TOKEN || 'your bot token';
const config: Configuration = {
  playCommand: 'play',
  yandexCloud: {
    accessKey: process.env.YANDEX_CLOUD_ACCESS_KEY || 'Yandex cloud access key',
    folderId: process.env.YANDEX_CLOUD_FOLDER_ID || 'Yandex cloud folder'
  }
};

const localSession = new LocalSession(
  {
    getSessionKey: (ctx: ContextMessageUpdate) => ctx.chat!.id
  }
)

const bot = new Telegraf(botToken);
const wireTapper = new WireTapper(config);

bot.use(
  localSession.middleware(),
  wireTapper.middleware()
);

bot.launch();

Docker example

Below is Dockerfile I used to run it:

FROM node
RUN apt-get update && apt-get install -y ffmpeg

WORKDIR /usr/src/app

COPY package*.json ./
RUN npm install
COPY . .
CMD [ "npm", "start" ]

then run it using command:

docker run <your bot image> -d --env BOT_TOKEN=<your bot token> --env YANDEX_CLOUD_FOLDER_ID=<id of Yandex cloud folder> --env YANDEX_CLOUD_ACCESS_KEY=<Yandex cloud access key>
