Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

taro-provider

Taro-provider is a helper library to easily use react createContext hooks in tara application.

Since there is no root component in mini-program, each page will be rendered in a different context. It is hard to use provider in taro application. A possible solution is that: store provider context in global object and then restore it in each page. Official @tarojs/redux takes this workaround solution. However, there are few hacks in taro-cli to implement this solution. It's not easy for developer to create our own provider. This is why we created this library.

hack solution in taro-cli under https://github.com/NervJS/taro/blob/e0166b508ed997cc0a2bddcb478a5f4b1888ffe5/packages/taro-transformer-wx/src/index.ts#L851

Installation

Using npm:

$ npm install --save taro-provider

Using yarn:

$ yarn add taro-provider

Example

createProvider

// GroupsProvider.ts
import Taro, { useState, useEffect } from '@tarojs/taro';
import { createProvider } from 'taro-provider';

interface IGroupsContext {
  getGroups(): { groups: Object[], isLoading: boolean };
};

export const GroupsProviderContextName = 'GroupsProvider';

export const GroupsProvider = createProvider<IGroupsContext>({
  name: GroupsProviderContextName,
  create() {
    return {
      getGroups() {
        const [groups, setGroups] = useState<Object[]>([]);
        const [isLoading, setIsLoading] = useState<boolean>(false);

        useEffect(() => {
          setIsLoading(true);

          Taro.request<Object[]>({
            url: '/api/v1/groups'
          }).then(result => {
            setGroups(result.data);
          }).finally(() => {
            setIsLoading(false);
          })
        }, []);

        return {
          groups,
          isLoading
        };
      },
    };
  }
})

init Provider in app.tsx

import Taro, { Component, Config } from "@tarojs/taro";
import { GroupsProvider } from "./providers/GroupsProvider";
import Index from "./pages/home/index";

// init group provider
GroupsProvider.init();

class App extends Component {
  render() {
    return (
      <GroupsProvider.Provider>
        <Index />
      </GroupsProvider.Provider>
    );
  }
}

use Provider in pages

/// groups.tsx
import Taro from "@tarojs/taro";
import { View, Text } from "@tarojs/components";

import { GroupsProvider } from "../../providers";
import GroupView from "../../components/Group";

import "./index.css";

export default function Groups() {
  const { getGroups } = GroupsProvider.useProvider();
  const { isLoading, groups } = getGroups();

  return (
    <View className={cxClassName}>
      {isLoading && <Text> Loading... </Text>}
      {groups &&
        groups.map((group) => {
          return <GroupView key={group.uuid} {...group} />;
        })}
    </View>
  );
}

Groups.config = {
  navigationBarTitleText: "Groups",
};
