Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

On a related note, its the right time for me to be throwing out the old dumb trainers and get a new performance bike that has a heartrate sensor built in, as well as either a power meter or sweat rated clothing for use with TrainerRoad and its core features. That new hardware might come to fruition later in the year and Ill get into that more in the future.

Id love to see that too if that works out, that would be pretty sweet to be able to do a 1,000-meter spin on a track and then see where you finished and then have it add it to your workout. It would be cool if you could see the pace, too. I imagine you can do that through the Garmin Connect mobile app, but Im not using one. I am just still riding off that stupid trainer. I didnt know it could do that or any of the other cool things that they were talking about. I dont use their history features or "record you" feature.

So I need to go and get out there and test this shit out. It would be cool to have a dedicated logbook, too. But again, Id love to see some of the intended features come to fruition (either by Garmin expanding TrainerRoad or Tacx directly implementing it).

Its not a bad trainer but if youre not entirely familiar with training and training planning then theres not much there for you to fall back on. I wish TrainerRoad had a more intuitive UI and I wish they could explain more things to me to get me going. Hopefully, they can incorporate some of the functionality of the Tacx Map into their app.

That goes double for TrainerRoad if youre going to be doing multiple routes throughout the day. I would love to see some sort of leaderboard where you can compare your times to everyone else who is riding that same route or one of its variations. Same thing for referring friends. And lastly, I think there should be more social features that you can use to virtually train with friends and people that share a common interest. 84d34552a1
