Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Built With Stencil

Stencil 3D Card Carousel

Ask me anything Version Downloads

Sample project that shows an experimental 3D card carousel Web Component built with Stencil. A framework-agnostic web component that works in Ionic, Angular, React, Vue,...

Stencil is also great for building entire apps. For that, use the stencil-app-starter instead.

Stencil

Stencil is a compiler for building fast web apps using Web Components.

Stencil combines the best concepts of the most popular frontend frameworks into a compile-time rather than run-time tool. Stencil takes TypeScript, JSX, a tiny virtual DOM layer, efficient one-way data binding, an asynchronous rendering pipeline (similar to React Fiber), and lazy-loading out of the box, and generates 100% standards-based Web Components that run in any browser supporting the Custom Elements v1 spec.

Stencil components are just Web Components, so they work in any major framework or with no framework at all.

Getting Started

Before you go through this component, you should have at least a basic understanding of Stencil concepts.

git clone https://github.com/abritopach/st-3d-card-carousel
cd st-3d-card-carousel

and run:

npm install
npm start

To build the component for production, run:

npm run build

To run the unit tests for the components, run:

npm test

Naming Components

When creating new component tags, we recommend not using stencil in the component name (ex: <stencil-datepicker>). This is because the generated component has little to nothing to do with Stencil; it's just a web component!

Instead, use a prefix that fits your company or any name for a group of related components. For example, all of the Ionic generated web components use the prefix ion.

Using this component

Ionic / Angular project

  1. Install the package.
npm install st-three-dimensional-card-carousel --save
  1. Modify main.ts to import and make a call to defineCustomElements.
import { enableProdMode } from '@angular/core'
import { platformBrowserDynamic } from '@angular/platform-browser-dynamic'

import { AppModule } from './app/app.module'
import { environment } from './environments/environment'

import { defineCustomElements } from 'st-three-dimensional-card-carousel/dist/loader'

if (environment.production) {
  enableProdMode()
}

platformBrowserDynamic()
  .bootstrapModule(AppModule)
  .catch(err => console.log(err))
defineCustomElements(window)
  1. Add the CUSTOM_ELEMENTS_SCHEMA.
import { NgModule, CUSTOM_ELEMENTS_SCHEMA } from '@angular/core'
import { CommonModule } from '@angular/common'
import { IonicModule } from '@ionic/angular'
import { FormsModule } from '@angular/forms'
import { RouterModule } from '@angular/router'

import { HomePage } from './home.page'

@NgModule({
  imports: [
    CommonModule,
    FormsModule,
    IonicModule,
    RouterModule.forChild([
      {
        path: '',
        component: HomePage,
      },
    ]),
  ],
  schemas: [CUSTOM_ELEMENTS_SCHEMA],
  declarations: [HomePage],
})
export class HomePageModule {}
  1. Use 3D card carousel web component in html
<st-3D-card-carousel [slides]="slides" [autoloop]="autoloop" [distance]="slideDistance" (selectedItem)="handleSelectedItem($event)"
  (slideChange)="handleSlideChange($event)"></st-3D-card-carousel>

Vue project

  1. Install the package.
npm install st-three-dimensional-card-carousel --save
  1. Modify main.js to import and make a call to defineCustomElements.
import Vue from 'vue'
import App from './App.vue'

import { defineCustomElements, applyPolyfills } from 'st-three-dimensional-card-carousel/loader';

Vue.config.productionTip = false

// tell Vue to ignore all components defined in the st-three-dimensional-card-carousel/loader
// package. The regex assumes all components names are prefixed.
// 'st'
Vue.config.ignoredElements = [/st-\w*/];

// Bind the custom elements to the window object.
applyPolyfills().then(() => {
  defineCustomElements(window);
});

new Vue({
  render: h => h(App),
}).$mount('#app')
  1. Use 3D card carousel web component in jsx

Vue provides a way to explicitly pass the object as a property rather than an attribute, it is as simple as adding .prop to the property name of the stencil component.

<st-3D-card-carousel v-bind:slides.prop="slides" v-bind:autoloop.prop="autoloop"></st-3D-card-carousel>

In a stencil-starter app

  • Run npm install st-three-dimensional-card-carousel --save
  • Add an import to the npm packages import st-three-dimensional-card-carousel;
