Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Description

ssh-tools is a powerfull extention of the greate ssh2 Client class that allows to connect to a server via a different ssh server thats nearly completly backwards compatible to the ssh2 libary

Table of Contents

Installation

npm i ssh-tools

Differences

connect

the connect methode requiers a host and a port

Usage

connect

the connect can be used in the same way as the connect from the ssh Client class

const connection = new SSHClient();

connection.connect({
  host: '127.0.0.1',
  port: 22
})

hop

to connect to a server via a hop you can use a already existing connection

const connectionParent = new SSHClient();
const connection = new SSHClient();

connection.connect({
  host: '127.0.0.1',
  port: 22,
  through: connectionParent
})

or you can direkt connect with connection options if the connection get closed it closes all hop connections if there where generatet

const connection = new SSHClient();

connection.connect({
  host: '127.0.0.1',
  port: 22,
  through: {
    host: 'example.com',
    port: 22,
    through: {
      //...
    }
  }
})

port forwards on connect

const connection = new SSHClient();

connection.connect({
  host: '127.0.0.1',
  port: 22,
  tunnels: [
    {
      remotePort: 443,
      remoteHost: '127.0.0.1',
      localPort: 443,
    },
    {
      remotePort: 25565,
      remoteHost: '127.0.0.1',
      localPort: 25565,
    }
  ]
})

releaseParent

if you have a connection you can "release" the parent an get the connection back this will prevent the closure of connections thats used for the hop

releaseParent will return false if it dosen`t have a parent

const connection = new SSHClient();

connection.connect({
  host: '127.0.0.1',
  port: 22,
  through: {
    host: 'example.com',
    port: 22,
    through: {
      ...
    }
  }
})

const connectionParent = connection.releaseParent(); // SSHClient | false

forwardPort

generates a ssh port forward and returns a instance of SSHForward

const connection = new SSHClient();

const localPort = 443;
const remoteAdress = '127.0.0.1';
const remotePort = 443;

const forward = connection.forwardPort( localPort, remoteAdress, remotePort);

forward.close() // closes the forward

getPortForwards

returns a array of open port forwards

const connection = new SSHClient();

const connection.connect({
  host: 'example.com',
  port: 22,
  tunnels: [
    {
      remotePort: 443,
      remoteHost: '127.0.0.1',
      localPort: 443,
    },
    {
      remotePort: 25565,
      remoteHost: '127.0.0.1',
      localPort: 25565,
    }
  ]
});

// contains the tunnels defined in the connect
const forwards = forward.getPortForwards();
