Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

SpeechTextConverter

SpeechTextConverter is a real-time speech recognition library for web applications. Utilizing the Web Speech API's SpeechRecognition interface, this library provides a streamlined method to convert spoken language into written text, enhancing the user experience and accessibility of your application.

Installation

You can install SpeechTextConverter using npm:

npm install speechtextconverter

How to use

First, import the { TextToSpeech, SpeechToText } function from the library:

import { TextToSpeech, SpeechToText }  from 'speechtextconverter';

// Speech to text 
// SpeechToText ( callback )
SpeechToText((text) => {
    console.log(`You said: ${text}`);
    // .. add futher processing.
    // Required to detect changed if any
    this.cd.detectChanges();
});

// Text to speech
// SpeechToText ( "Text to speak...." )

Compatibility

The software is compatible with NodeJS, ReactJS and Angular. SpeechToText uses the Web Speech API, which is supported by most modern browsers. However, it may not work on some older browsers or certain mobile browsers.
