Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

SWAM speak-chat

StarMash extension to speak chat messages with text to speech.

Reading the chat while getting shot at can be difficult. Having the chat read aloud gives you one less thing to worry about.

Install URL: https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/woot-airmash-speakchat/speak-chat.js

Mod Settings

  • Enable/disable speech
  • Speech speed
  • Voice selection for multiple languages

Status

The Web Speech API that runs this extension is still pretty new so sometimes browsers or systems break. Here's the gist:

  • Chromium needs --enable-speech-dispatcher when starting
  • Safari and IE are untested but may work

If you're using Chromium on linux you may need to install a TTS engine. If you don't already have espeak do:

apt-get install espeak
