Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

This repository contains a very small, fully working, Among Us server. (~1.4kb without comments)

Strictly not recommended for use.

src/index.js contains the source of the server with comments and proper indentation in order to make development quicker and to make it easier to understand what is happening.

If you are looking for a real server to use, I suggest the one that I work on at https://github.com/SkeldJS/SkeldJS. Other alternatives include NodePolus (https://github.com/NodePolus/NodePolus) and Impostor (https://github.com/Impostor/Impostor)

Installation

Prerequisites: Node.js (https://nodejs.org) Git (Optional, https://git-scm.org)

Step 1: Install the repo If you have installed Git, enter a command prompt in any folder and use the command git clone https://github.com/edqx/small-amongus-server in order to clone the repository to your computer. Then enter the repository with cd small-amongus-server.

If you have not installed Git, go ahead and download the zip file using this link: https://github.com/edqx/small-amongus-server/archive/master.zip. Extract the contents of the zip into any folder and enter it with a command prompt.

Step 2: Run the server There are no external dependencies for this project, so you can instantly run the project by writing npm start OR node src/index.js. There is also no configuration for the project.

Contribution

If you are contributing to the project, keep in mind the goal of the project. Skip certain flows that an Among Us server might carry out if it does not affect the game in a major way. Also, use JavaScript tactics such as the logical operators (&&, ||) rather than using if statements, as these can reduce file size by a lot. Other size reduction techniques will be suggested if you are not sure.

Only contribute to the main index.js file.

Also, do not focus on making the program secure or error-prone, and only support actual Among Us clients, even though other clients (e.g. programmable clients) may behave differently. The goal of the project is just for a working Among Us server, even if it may be extremely unstable and not suitable for use.

Notes

This program should not be taken seriously, and should not be used for an actual Among Us server.
