Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

NOTE: This project has moved to braid-text-proxy

simpleton-proxy

a proxy exposing and caching web and file resources over a convenient protocol

To Run Locally..

Clone the repo..

    git clone https://github.com/braid-org/simpleton-proxy.git

And in that directory, run:

    node index.js 60000

This will run a server on port 60000, but only permits local connections.

Note that it will create a directory called braid-text-db, and store the local cached information there.

To Use..

/pages: shows all the proxied urls

/file-proxy/AAA?BBB: proxies the url AAA into the file BBB

/AAA: proxies the url AAA as simpleton

Known Issues:

  • doesn't resubscribe to anything when you restart the server (though it should keep trying to re-establish a broken connection for as long as the server is still running)
