semver-bump
This is a simple module that helps users upgrade a local JSON config file, such as package.json
to a new version according to semver.
Installation
npm install -g semver-bump
Usage
semver-bump ./package.json
By default you can leave off ./package.json
and it will look for that file in the current working directory.
Technically this will work on any JSON file that has a version
property.
Example output
This will bump the version number according to semver
File to update: /Projects/myapp/package.json
major: We are releasing a change that includes any backwards-incompatible change
minor: We are releasing a change that has new features, but is backwards-compatible with any existing consumers
patch: This is a bugfix release or only has other minor changes with no changes to the interfaces
What type of release is this? (major | minor | patch) patch
Old version was: 1.0.1
New version is: 1.0.2
Done updating file. Now commit those changes to git.
Suggested commit: git commit -m "Bumped version from 1.0.1 to 1.0.2"
