Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

CanJS wrapper around SemanticUI Date Range Picker component

A can.view.attr wrapper around the SemanticUI Date Range Picker. With can.view.attr you can add custom behavior to elements that contain a specified html attribute. Since SemanticUI is a set of jQuery plugins, can.view.attr is a natural way to invoke them in a CanJS or DoneJS application.

This wrapper allows you to use SemanticUI Date Range Picker with just html, no need to run jQuery plugin yourself.

SemanticUI's CSS should be imported separately. You can use semantic-ui-less package as in this demo.

Demo

See the included demo /demo/demo.html (run npm install, then http-server in the project root and browse /demo/demo.html).

Date Range Picker

Installation

npm install semantic-ui-daterangepicker-canjs --save

Usage

<input type="text" semantic-daterangepicker />

<!-- As a single-calendar date-picker -->
<input type="text" semantic-daterangepicker single="true"/>

<!-- Specify start and end dates -->
<input type="text" semantic-daterangepicker
  start-date="6/23/2016"
  end-date="9/23/2016"/>

<!-- Specify date string format -->
<input type="text" semantic-daterangepicker
  start-date="Jun 23 2016"
  end-date="Sep 23 2016"
  format="MMM D Y"/>

Use as a single date picker with live binding

Use a template like this:

<input type="text" semantic-daterangepicker
  single="true"
  {($value)}="formattedDate"
  format="MMM D Y"/>

And this example viewModel:

import Map from 'can/map/';
import 'can/map/define/';
import moment from 'moment';

let DateMap = Map.extend({
  define: {
    date: {
      value: new Date()
    },

    formattedDate: {
      get(){
        let date = this.attr('date');
        return moment(date).format('MMM D Y');
      },
      set(val){
        let date = moment(val);
        // If an invalid date is set, set it to today's date.
        if (date.toString() === 'Invalid date') {
          return this.attr('formattedDate', moment());
        }
        this.attr('date', date);
        return val;
      }
    }
  }
});

let dateMap = new DateMap();

$('#demo').viewModel(dateMap).attr(dateMap);
