SCREPL

A pluggable command line based scraper with REPL support.

Installation

> npm install screpl -g 

Usage

Pass a URL to SCREPL then use the $ variable as a jQuery object.

Usage: screpl <url>

Options:

  -h, --help              output usage information
  -V, --version           output the version number
  -r, --require <module>  require a plugin module

Plugins

Check out the plugin example in the examples directory.

Plugins are node modules that expose a function which accepts the REPL context. Attach variables and functions to the context to make them accessible at run-time.

  context.getText = function() {

    //
    // Access the jQuery object from within the plugin.
    //
    context.$('p').each(function() {
      out.push(this.text());
    });

    //
    // The return value will be written to standard out.
    //
    return out.join(' ');
  };
};

Require your plugin using the --require option.

$ screpl http://example.com --require plugin.js

  request loaded with 200
  use the variable `$` to access the result

> getText()
'\nWelcome to exmaple.com.\nChances...'

Plugins Already Available

postHttp($("body").html(), 'http://yourserver.com')

Variables and functions exposed through plugins will autocomplete.
