var config = require('./local_config');
var Rockhopper = require('rockhopper');
rockhopper = new Rockhopper(config);
var exampleMapping = {
"apache" : {
"properties": {
"@timestamp": {
"type": "date",

rockhopper.addMapping(exampleMapping);
rockhopper.run();
Install
$ npm install rockhopper
Tuning
- Low memory servers
- node option: --max_old_space=64 This wil limit the old heap space to 64M (low traffic rockhopper can run with 15MB old space)
- node option: --expose_gc and add code to app.js below
This will force garbage collection every 10sec to cleanup memorysetInterval( function(){ gc();; }, 10000 );
Test
- OS = linux
- requirements: elasticsearch server
$ mkdir -p test/node_modules
$ cd test
$ npm install rockhopper
$ cp node_modules/rockhopper/example/* .
$ node example_app
features
- Logging to Elasticsearch
- cpu, memory, load stats
- Index mapping
- Configurable intervals
- External logging JSON on incoming udp
- Graphing on Kibana
Screenshots with Kibana 4
