Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Request for Contribution: Remote Intern at Resourceful Humans

We are looking for a resourceful human to join our development team for 3-6 months anywhere in the world where you have broadband internet connection available. We are open for part-time and the internship is paid.

You will work in an environment that is like no other: we are at the forefront of the #futureofwork movement and pride ourselves to eat our own dogfood when it comes to running our business: everything we do is done in form of a contribution, it has a clear value proposition and we commit individually to deliver the result. For our own contributions and if we join contributions of colleagues, our commitment is reinforced every week.

So here is our Request for Contribution:

Resourceful Development Intern (m/f) anywhere in the world

We are starting to grow our team and right now we have a strong need for support in everything frontend. We use JavaScript (ES6) for everything and are currently moving from Angular 1 to the next generation of frontend frameworks for both our web and mobile applications. Our backends are running on AWS with a custom framework built for event sourcing.

We build software that supports our consulting projects, currently we have staRHs (a peer-to-peer feedback tools), caRHds (a tool that helps organizations to get rid of useless meetings), and netwoRHk (which brings back entrepreneurial decisions to every level of the organization). Although we work with big organizations, we only support the latest browser generation, so you don't need to worry about old Internet Explorers.

In your internship, you will:

  • learn about measuring the business value of your work and the responsibility of choice
  • learn to deliver customer value quickly
  • work on open-source code and grow your skills as a contributor for projects on GitHub
  • embark on a journey to become a Software Craftswoman or Craftsman
  • learn to work in a fail-fast environment where you release code to production daily
  • learn to prepare and at least one talk for a conference or meetup and deliver it
  • work with people who teach others to work like they do
  • have the possibility to work on a crazy broad range of projects, ranging from real-time visualization of organizations to virtual reality experiences with the Captain of a Nuclear Submarine and possibly even beyond that
  • work from anywhere you want, we will pay for a coworking space if you need one

Your responsibilities are:

  • Assisting in the development of our core applications
  • Assisting in creating marketing and campaign websites
  • defining additional personal contributions together with us and delivering them
  • Making your own schedule, self-organize, and being over- communicative in our Slack

You need:

  • a broadband internet connection
  • fluent english
  • a high degree of self-organization
  • a decent computer running an up-to-date Linux or Mac OS X
  • good knowledge about JavaScript as a full-stack language and working with GitHub
  • love for all humans

Don't apply:

  • if you love to work at an office
  • if you use Windows
