Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

remix-feature-routes

remix router inspired by domain driven design

Install

npm install remix-feature-routes

Usage

import { vitePlugin as remix } from "@remix-run/dev";
import { featureRoutes } from "remix-feature-routes";
import { defineConfig } from "vite";

export default defineConfig({
	plugins: [
		remix({
			// require to disable remix default routing algoritm
			ignoredRouteFiles: ["**/*"],
			routes: featureRoutes({
				// optional
				ignoredRouteFiles: [
					".*",
					"**/*.css",
					"**/*.test.{js,jsx,ts,tsx}",
					"**/__*.*",
					"**/internal/**",
				],
			}),
		}),
		tsconfigPaths(),
	],
});

Inside the routes folders, we use a 'flat files' convention. Use $ for params, and . for /.

This will enable you to have a file structure like:

ROUTE                          URL
--------------------------------------------------
# Auth related code and routes
auth/actions/user-actions.ts
auth/config.ts #  export const routeConfig = { basePath: '/' }
auth/components/login-form.ts
auth/components/signup-form.ts
auth/models/user.ts
auth/routes/index.tsx          /auth
auth/routes/login.tsx          /auth/login
auth/routes/signup.tsx         /auth/signup
auth/routes/_layout.tsx        /auth

# Products related code and routes
products/routes/index.tsx      /products
products/routes/$id.tsx        /products/:id
products/routes/_layout.tsx    /products

# Users related code and routes
users/routes/settings.tsx      /users/settings
users/routes/profile.tsx       /users/profile
users/routes/index.tsx         /users
users/routes/_layout.tsx       /users

Route config files

All domains can have an optional config.ts file, exporting a routeConfig. This way it's possible to change the path prefix.

By default, domains have their domain name prefixed. Using a basePath of / moves the routes to the root.

export const routeConfig = {
	basePath: "/",
};

We also support params in the basePath:

export const routeConfig = {
	basePath: "/$owner/$repo",
};

// repos/routes/index.tsx      /:owner/:repo
// repos/routes/issues.tsx     /:owner/:repo/issues
// repos/routes/pulls.tsx      /:owner/:repo/pulls

API

remix-feature-routes(options?)

Remix feature routes doesn't require any options, though you might want to add some files to ignore in case you're colocating stylesheets, or test files.

options

Type: ignoredRouteFiles Default: []

This property takes an array of glob strings. Define some globs to ensure that collocated test files are not seen as routes.
