Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

redux-intl-react

React bindings for localization with MessageFormat and optional ECMA Intl support using redux-intl-connect.

Build Status Coverage Status npm package PRs Welcome

PSA

If you're looking to support react-intl in redux, please use react-intl-redux instead.

The main difference between this library and the aforementioned is that this does not depend on the availability of ECMA Intl or it's polyfill.

About

redux-intl-react provides React specific bindings for localization using redux-intl-connect with MessageFormat support.

Basic functionality does not require browser support or polyfill for ECMA-Intl. Should you require those, you can enable it. By setting ecmaSupport to true in the reducer.

Installation

Install the library:

npm install redux-intl-react redux react --save

Usage

import React from 'react';
import ReactDOM from 'react-dom';
import {Provider, FormattedMessage} from 'redux-intl-react'
import store from '<project-path>/store'

const App = () => (
  <Provider store={store}>
    <FormattedMessage id='translation_id' />
  </Provider>
);

ReactDOM.render(<App />, document.getElementById('container'));

Alias methods

Both updateIntl and intlReducer are aliased in this library. As such, you can do the following:

import {updateIntl, intlReducer} from 'redux-intl-react';

instead of

import {updateIntl, intlReducer} from 'redux-intl-connect';

For usage instructions, please refer to the README of redux-intl-connect

Convenience methods

This library provides some components for convenince. These are essentially Higher Order Functions over react-redux;

connect vs Redux connect

Instead of doing the following:

import {injectIntl} from 'redux-intl-react';
import connect from 'react-redux';

const Component = (props) => (
	...code
);

export default connect(mapStateToProps, mapDispatchToProps)(injectIntl(Component));

you can do this instead:

import {connect} from 'redux-intl-react';

const Component = (props) => (
	...code
);

export default connect(mapStateToProps, mapDispatchToProps)(Component);

Provider vs IntlProvider

Provider is just a convenient wrapper for use if you are using react-redux provider as your root.

In the event that you already have a custom provider in use that already wraps the redux provider, you can use IntlProvider instead.

import React from 'react';
import {IntlProvider} from 'redux-intl-react';
import {Provider} from 'SOME_SPECIAL_PROVIDER';

const App = () => (
  <Provider store={store}>
    <IntlProvider>
      <App />
    </IntlProvider>
  </Provider>
);
