Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

react-navigation-blacklist

Simple blacklist hook for react-navigation to toggle top/bottom tabs.

Installation

Make sure you have installed react-navigation

npm install react-navigation-blacklist

Usage

First, get blacklist function via useTabBarBlacklist.

export default function App() {
  const { blacklist } = useTabBarBlacklist();
  // ...
}

Create blacklist array

const blackListExample = ['SubScreen2'];

Give blacklist function to TabNavigator screenOptions' tabBarVisible prop

<Tab.Navigator
  screenOptions={({ route }) => ({
    tabBarVisible: blacklist({ route, list: blackListExample }),
  })}
>
  <Tab.Screen name="Stack1" component={Stack1} />
  <Tab.Screen name="Stack2" component={Stack2} />
</Tab.Navigator>

Whole Example

// Imports
import { createBottomTabNavigator } from '@react-navigation/bottom-tabs';
import { NavigationContainer, ParamListBase } from '@react-navigation/native';
import {
  createStackNavigator,
  StackNavigationProp,
} from '@react-navigation/stack';
import * as React from 'react';
import { Button, StyleSheet, Text, View } from 'react-native';
import { useTabBarBlacklist } from 'react-navigation-blacklist';
// ...
export default function App() {
  const { blacklist } = useTabBarBlacklist();
  return (
    <NavigationContainer>
      <Tab.Navigator
        screenOptions={({ route }) => ({
          tabBarVisible: blacklist({ route, list: blackListExample }),
        })}
      >
        <Tab.Screen name="Stack1" component={Stack1} />
        <Tab.Screen name="Stack2" component={Stack2} />
      </Tab.Navigator>
    </NavigationContainer>
  );
}

// Stacks
const Stack1 = () => {
  return (
    <View style={styles.container}>
      <Text>Stack 1</Text>
      <Text>Root Screen</Text>
    </View>
  );
};

// Stack for Stack2
const Stack = createStackNavigator();
const Stack2 = () => (
  <Stack.Navigator>
    <Stack.Screen name="SubScreen1" component={SubScreen1} />
    <Stack.Screen name="SubScreen2" component={SubScreen2} />
    <Stack.Screen name="SubScreen3" component={SubScreen3} />
  </Stack.Navigator>
);

// Sub Screens
const SubScreen1 = ({ navigation }: ScreenProps) => (
  <View style={styles.container}>
    <Text>Stack 2</Text>
    <Text>Sub Screen 1</Text>
    <Button
      title="Move to Sub Screen2"
      onPress={() => navigation.navigate('SubScreen2')}
    />
  </View>
);

const SubScreen2 = ({ navigation }: ScreenProps) => (
  <View style={styles.container}>
    <Text>Stack 2</Text>
    <Text>Sub Screen 2</Text>
    <Button
      title="Move to Sub Screen3"
      onPress={() => navigation.navigate('SubScreen3')}
    />
  </View>
);

const SubScreen3 = () => (
  <View style={styles.container}>
    <Text>Stack 2</Text>
    <Text>Sub Screen 3</Text>
  </View>
);

// Styles
const styles = StyleSheet.create({
  container: {
    flex: 1,
    alignItems: 'center',
    justifyContent: 'center',
  },
});

// Types
type ScreenProps = {
  navigation: StackNavigationProp<ParamListBase, string>,
};
