Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

React Native Eventique Module

The React Native Eventique Module is a revolutionary tool that transforms the way your app interacts with server events. Designed for Android, this lightweight and efficient module eliminates the need for constant polling, significantly reducing server resource consumption. By integrating with the eventique-push library on your server, you can effortlessly push actions to your device, enabling it to perform a wide range of tasks.

Imagine the convenience of remotely clearing a shopping cart, prompting your app to fetch the latest updates, or initiating any number of custom actions - the possibilities are truly exciting! With the Eventique Module, your app becomes a dynamic and responsive entity, capable of adapting to your server's commands in real time.

Getting Started

Installation

To install the Eventique module, run the following command in your React Native project:

npm install react-native-eventique

or if you use Yarn:

yarn add react-native-eventique

Setup

  1. Import the useEventiQueListener hook from the Eventique module:

    import { useEventiQueListener } from 'react-native-eventique';

Usage

To use the Eventique hook in your app, follow these steps:

  1. Use the useEventiQueListener hook in your component to listen for messages and connection status:

    const [message, isConnected] = useEventiQueListener();

    console.log('Message: ', message);
    console.log('Is Connected: ', isConnected);
  2. Display the received message in your component:

    return (
      <View style={styles.container}>
        <Text>Action: {message}</Text>
      </View>
    );

Example

Here's a simple example of how to use the Eventique module in a React Native app:

import React from 'react';
import { View, Text, StyleSheet } from 'react-native';
import { useEventiQueListener } from 'react-native-eventique';

const App = () => {
  const [message, isConnected] = useEventiQueListener({apiKey:"xxxxx"});

  console.log('Message: ', message);
  console.log('Is Connected: ', isConnected);

  return (
    <View style={styles.container}>
      <Text>Action: {message}</Text>
    </View>
  );
};

const styles = StyleSheet.create({
  container: {
    flex: 1,
    justifyContent: 'center',
    alignItems: 'center',
    backgroundColor: '#F5FCFF',
  },
});

export default App;

Support

For now, the Eventique module is only available for Android. If you encounter any issues or have feature requests, please feel free to open an issue on the GitHub repository.
