Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

react-driver.js - A React wrapper around driver.js.

npm License

Install

With yarn:

yarn add react-driver.js

With npm:

npm install --save-dev react-driver.js

Usage

import React, { Component } from "react";
import ReactDOM from "react-dom";
import { Driver, withDriver } from "react-driver.js";

class Child extends Component {
  render() {
    return <div id="cheese">Potato</div>;
  }
}

const App = ({ driver }) => (
  <Driver
    popoverOptions={{
      title: "Title on Popover",
      description: "Body of the popover",
      position: "bottom"
    }}
    driver={driver}
  >
    <Child />
  </Driver>
);

const driverOptions = {
  //Put some options here to be passed to the driver.js constructor
};
export default withDriver(App, driverOptions);

Instructions

Use the withDriver HOC wherever you need a reference to the driver. Then, wrap the component you wish to highlight as <Driver> <YourComponent> </Driver>. API is the same as driver.js. Only highlight is supported atm.

Options

Driver options follow:

{
  animate: true, // Whether to animate or not
  opacity: 0.75, // Background opacity (0 means only popovers and without overlay)
  padding: 10, // Distance of element from around the edges
  allowClose: true, // Whether the click on overlay should close or not
  doneBtnText: 'Done', // Text on the final button
  closeBtnText: 'Close', // Text on the close button for this step
  stageBackground: '#ffffff', // Background color for the staged behind highlighted element
  nextBtnText: 'Next', // Next button text for this step
  prevBtnText: 'Previous', // Previous button text for this step
  showButtons: false, // Do not show control buttons in footer
  scrollIntoViewOptions: {}, // We use `scrollIntoView()` when possible, pass here the options for it if you want any
  onHighlightStarted: (Element) {}, // Called when element is about to be highlighted
  onHighlighted: (Element) {}, // Called when element is fully highlighted
  onDeselected: (Element) {}, // Called when element has been deselected
}

Popover options follow:

{
    title: 'Title for the Popover',
    description: 'Description for it',
    position: 'left', // can be `top`, `left`, `right`, `bottom`
}
