Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Azure Active Directory Library (ADAL) support for ReactJS

npm install react-adal

index.js

import { runWithAdal } from 'react-adal';
import { authContext } from './adalConfig';

const DO_NOT_LOGIN = false;

runWithAdal(authContext, () => {

  // eslint-disable-next-line
  require('./indexApp.js');

},DO_NOT_LOGIN);

This index wrap is needed because ADAL use iframes for token silent refresh, and we do not want to have duplicated ReactApp started on iframes too!

indexApp.js (your real app index as it already is - example below)

import React from 'react';
import ReactDOM from 'react-dom';
import { Provider } from 'react-redux';
import { store } from './store';
import App from './App';

  ReactDOM.render(
    <Provider store={store}>
      <App />
    </Provider>,
    document.getElementById('root'),
  );

adalConfig.js

import { AuthenticationContext, adalFetch, withAdalLogin } from 'react-adal';

export const adalConfig = {
  tenant: '14d71d65-f596-4eae-be30-27f079bf8d4b',
  clientId: '14d71d65-f596-4eae-be30-27f079bf8d4b',
  endpoints: {
    api: '14d71d65-f596-4eae-be30-27f079bf8d4b',
  },
  cacheLocation: 'localStorage',
};

export const authContext = new AuthenticationContext(adalConfig);

export const adalApiFetch = (fetch, url, options) =>
  adalFetch(authContext, adalConfig.endpoints.api, fetch, url, options);

export const withAdalLoginApi = withAdalLogin(authContext, adalConfig.endpoints.api);

use adalApiFetch with your favorite "fetch" in your api call.

withAdalLoginApi HOC

change DO_NOT_LOGIN to true on index.js to stop login on index.js

import MyPage from './myPageComponent';
import Loading from './Loading';
import ErrorPage from './ErrorPage';

const MyProtectedPage = withAdalLoginApi(MyPage, () => <Loading />, (error) => <ErrorPage error={error}/>);

<Route
   path="/onlyLoggedUsers"
   render={ ()=> <MyProtectedPage /> }
/>
