Fast, beautiful, unique random Strings for node
- Fast. Integers only, no floating point operations. <3 your CPU!
- Beautiful. Use your own character set or go with one of the ready-made ones.
- Unique. Uses the pseudo random number generator from node's
crypt
package.
Usage
Easy:

Generate a String of length
random characters from alphabet
.
Parameters
length
- Integer. The number of characters you want your String to be.
alphabet
optional. String. The alphabet to use. Your resulting string will contain only characters from this alphabet. Default: newBase64 character set (see below)
Returns
A String of length
random characters from alphabet
.
Tips
- Humans & Manual Processing. Uppercase and Numerics only. Leave out 1lO0. Use
randomStrings.human(length)
- Old Skool-ish eCommerce. Be conservative about the length and use an uppercase (alpha)numeric character set. Use
randomStrings.alphaNumUpper(16)
or evenrandomStrings.numeric(16)
- Modern eCommerce (Bitcoin). Have fun! 64 characters and a full base64 character set = 64^64 options. Use
randomStrings.base64(64)
- IDs, Tokens Yeeeeh! 64+ characters and a full base64 character set. Perfect for
randomString.base64(128)
