Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Quick Git JS

Simple JavaScript node package for interacting with local working git repositories. Class-based modules that use node child_process to make sync systems calls to git

Requires:

Usage:

Require:

const { WorkingContainer } = require('quickgitjs')
const { RemoteContainer } = require('quickgitjs')

Instate object:

let repo = new WorkingContainer(path, readOnly);
let repo = new RemoteContainer(path, readOnly);

arguments:

  • dir - {string} path to working directory (contains working files and .git folder)
  • readOnly - {boolean} prevent/allow update operations, like commit, tag, checkout

Other Functions:

if (repo.isReady()) {
  console.log("Get Current Branch:\n" + repo.getCurrentBranch());
  console.log("Checkout:\n" + repo.checkoutBranch('br1'));
  console.log("Status:\n" + repo.getStatus())
  console.log("Log:\n" + repo.getLog())
  console.log("Log:\n" + repo.getRepoName())
}

Output:

Get Current Branch:
master

Checkout:
{
  status: 'ERROR',
  statusCode: -1,
  msg: 'path/to/repo was opened read-only'
}

Status:
D       1.txt
??      .gitignore
??      helloworld.js

Log:
created
repotered isReady with result working and null
Checked out br1 with result path/to/repo was opened read-only

myRepoName

What's New

quickgitConfig.js allows user to create custom git commands for working and remote objects. Commands are added to the WorkingContainer and RemoteContainer classes, and present in all instances.

Example

quickgitConfig.js

module.exports = {
  working: [
    { name: 'myStatus', cmd: 'git status' }
  ],

  remote: [
  ]
}

User Code

const { WorkingContainer } = require('quickgitjs')

let repo = new WorkingContainer(path, readOnly);
let result = repo.myStatus();
console.log(result);

Console Output

On branch master
    Your branch is up to date with 'origin/master'.·
    Changes not staged for commit:
      (use \"git add <file>...\" to update what will be committed)
      (use \"git restore <file>...\" to discard changes in working directory)
        modified:   src/RemoteContainer.js
        modified:   src/WorkingContainer.js
        modified:   tests/RemoteContainer.test.js
        modified:   tests/WorkingContainer.test.js·
    Untracked files:
      (use \"git add <file>...\" to include in what will be committed)
        quickgitConfig.js·
    no changes added to commit (use \"git add\" and/or \"git commit -a\")
