Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

PRMQ

Promise based amqplib wrapper For RabbitMQ and Javascript

Based on https://github.com/squaremo/amqp.node by Michael Bridgen

This project is still under heavy development and the API will likely change. Compatible with Node.js v6 or higher

Changelog

v0.6.0:
  • Exchanges and Queues are now resolvable using the promise pattern
  • exec() is no longer required. Just resolve the chain.
  • RPC is supported

Initialization

const PRMQ = require('prmq');

With connection string

const ch = await PRMQ.channel({connectionString: 'amqp://localhost'});

With connection object

const conn = await PRMQ.createConnection({connectionString: 'amqp://localhost' });
const ch = await PRMQ.channel({connection: conn});

Closing a connection once done

await ch.close();

Hello World

https://www.rabbitmq.com/tutorials/tutorial-one-javascript.html

Sending

ch.queue('hello')
  .consume((msg) => {
    console.log("msg");
  })

Receiving

ch.queue('hello')
  .send('Hello World!');

Worker

https://www.rabbitmq.com/tutorials/tutorial-two-javascript.html

const ch = await prmq.channel({prefetch: 1});
await ch.queue('task_queue')
  .consumeWithAck((msg, then) => {
    console.log(msg);
    return then.ack();
  })
  .send('Hello World!', { persistant: true });

Publish/Subscribe

https://www.rabbitmq.com/tutorials/tutorial-three-javascript.html

const ch = await prmq.channel();
const ex = ch.exchangeFanout('logs');
await ch.queue()
  .bind(ex)
  .consume((msg) => {
    console.log(msg);
  });
await ex.publish('Hello World');

Routing

https://www.rabbitmq.com/tutorials/tutorial-four-javascript.html

const ch = await prmq.channel();
const ex = ch.exchangeDirect('prmq_logs');
await ch.queue('', { exclusive: true })
  .bindWithRoutings(ex, [
    'info',
    'warning',
    'error',
  ])
  .consumeRaw((msg) => {
    console.log(msg.fields.routingKey, msg.content.toString());
  });

await ex.publishWithRoutingKey(msg, severity);

Topics

https://www.rabbitmq.com/tutorials/tutorial-five-javascript.html

const ch = await prmq.channel({prefetch: 1});
const ex = ch.exchangeTopic('topic', {durable: false});
await ch.queue('', { exclusive: true })
  .bindWithRouting(ex, 'kern.*')
  .consumeRaw(msg => {
    console.log(" [x] %s:'%s'", msg.fields.routingKey, msg.content.toString());
  });
await ex.publishWithRoutingKey('A critical kernel error', 'kern.critical');

RPC

https://www.rabbitmq.com/tutorials/tutorial-six-javascript.html

PRMQ.channel({ prefetch: 1 })
  .then(async (ch) => {

    const q1 = await ch.queue('prmq_rpc_queue', { durable: false })
      .consumeRawWithAck(async (msg, then) => {
        console.log(msg.content.toString());
        then.ack();
        await ch.queueWithoutAssert(msg.properties.replyTo)
          .send('2nd message', {correlationId: msg.properties.correlationId});
      });

    const corr = Math.random().toString();

    const q2 = await ch.queue('', {exclusive: true})
      .consumeRaw((msg) => {
        if (msg.properties.correlationId == corr) {
           console.log(msg.content.toString());
          return ch.close();
        }
      });

    await q1.send('1st message', {correlationId: corr, replyTo: q2.queueName})
  })
