Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

poke-over

A Pokemon Package to simplify the use of my Pokemon API

API

What i can do?

You can do many things with enough imagination and creativity; However a couple of things that come to mind are: a "Who is that Pokemon?", A Pokedex (coming soon)

Or something more specific would be a "Pokecord", a Pokemon Discord bot

Methods

randomPokemon

As the name indicates, it returns a JSON of a Random Pokemon, the JSON includes the name of the Pokemon and its respective image

Async/await

  const over = require('poke-over')
  let random = await over.randomPokemon()
  // random is the JSON of the Random Pokemon

No-Async/then

  const over = require('poke-over')
  over.randomPokemon().then(random => {
    random
  })

Returns:

  {
    name: 'Pokemon Name',
    imageURL: 'the URL of an Image of the Pokemon'
  }

getPokemon

This method receives a parameter of a number from 1 to 811, for example to get Bulbasaur you would have to put 1 as a parameter of the function, the number would be the pokedex number of the Pokemon

Async/await

  const over = require('poke-over')
  let get = await over.getPokemon(1)
  // get is the JSON of the Pokemon we got

No-Async/then

  const over = require('poke-over')
  over.getPokemon(1).then(get => {
    get
  })

Returns:

  {
    name: 'bulbasaur',
    imageURL: 'imageurl of bulbasaur'
  } // It returns the information of bulbasaur because i put 1 as the number

allPokemon

This method is for very specific things because it returns a JSON of an Array of Objects of All Pokemon

Async/await

  const over = require('poke-over')
  let all = over.allPokemon()
  // all is the JSON of ALL Pokemon

No-Async/then

  const over = require('poke-over')
  over.allPokemon().then(all => {
    all
  })

Returns:

  /*
  For obvious reasons I can't put what it returns but you can see it at https://poke-over.glitch.me/api/pokemon
  */
