Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Small CLI tool to help with Path of Exile Leveling

Screenshot

This app reads from the game's log file and will update what it's showing you based on the zones you travel to. It supports auto moving forward and backward from the current location automatically. If it gets stuck there are controls to move back and forward by act or step.

Usage

You run the tool once with the location of your game log as the -l parameter. After that it remembers this setting and doesn't require it again. Depending on your system you might need to run with polling in order for it to accurately watch your game file.

So run something like this once, with the path to your game log:

poe-guide.exe -l "D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Path of Exile\logs\Client.txt"

After that you can run without the -l parameter. Add the -p parameter if it's not recognizing your zone changes:

poe-guide.exe -p

Controls

The following keybindings are available when the app is running:

| Key | Use | |-----|-----| | b | Go to beginning | | e | Go to end | | h | Go backward one act | | l | Go forward one act | | k | Go backward one step | | j | Go forward one step | | r | Reset death counter | | q | Quit |

Changes

Right now I'm sure it isn't perfect but can get me from Act 1 to 10 without looking at other guides. If you have any suggestions for changes please let me know either as issues on github.

I would love to eventually provide options where you can turn on or off different options (Such as "Do trials" or "All quests" or "Only passive quests" or "No extra quests") but for now it's just hardcoded to include all passive quests and the easiest of the non passive optionals.

Developing

You need Node.js to run this app from source:

# Install yarn if you don't have it
npm install -g yarn

# Install dependencies
yarn

# Run the app
./cli.js

I build the release exe files with nexe.
