Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

payload-color-swatch-field

A color swatch field for Payload 3

Installation

npm i @modernaut/payload-color-swatch-field

NOTE: At the time of writing this, you may experience package conflicts with Payload Beta. You may need to use npm i with --force

Usage

import type { CollectionConfig } from "payload";
import { colorSwatchField } from "@modernaut/payload-color-swatch-field";

const Lorem: CollectionConfig = {
  slug: "lorem",
  admin: {
    useAsTitle: "title",
  },
  fields: [
    {
      name: "title",
      type: "text",
      required: true,
    },
    colorSwatchField({
      defaultColors: ['#000000', '#777', '#ffffff', 'bg-amber-500', 'bg-teal-500', 'bg-violet-500', 'text-amber-700', 'text-teal-700', 'text-violet-700'],
      overrides: {
        required: true,
      },
    }),
  ],
};

export default Lorem;

Options

  • defaultColors: Provide an array of color options (supports hex and Tailwind colors)
  • lockDefaultColors: Enable to ensure default color options can't be removed by users (default: true)
  • allowNull: Adds a null option to default colors (default: true)
  • allowUserPreferences: Enable to allow users to remove and add colors and build their own palette (default: true)
  • useGlobalPreferences: Disabling this will allow custom user color options on a per-field basis (default: true)
  • allowTailwindColors: Enable to allow Tailwind color options (default: true)
  • tailwindColorWhitelist: Provide a list of Tailwind color options. NOTE: You must specify the full color class (e.g. 'text-amber-700' vs 'amber-500') in order for Tailwind to detect/generate the proper colors in its CSS. Otherwise, you'll need to safelist the full class in your tailwind config file. See https://tailwindcss.com/docs/content-configuration#safelisting-classes for more details (default: all bg and text Tailwind colors are allowed)
  • allowHexColors: Enable to allow hex colors (default: true)
  • overrides: Any Payload field type overrides

To Do

  • Special color options: Gradients, transparency etc.
  • Cell support: Adding swatch styles to column sorting UI
  • Restricting hex options in the 'Add' prompt
