Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

pantry-sdk

A type-safe helper library for interacting with the Pantry JSON storage API
works in both node, deno and browser

Notice: inactive baskets will be removed after 30 days

usage

First, import the library

import Pantry from "pantry-sdk";
// if you are using deno, add `npm:` specifier
import Pantry from "npm:pantry-sdk";
// you may want import via url
import Pantry from "https://esm.sh/pantry-sdk";

Second, initialize the object with PantryID

const client = new Pantry("xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx");

// to enable a strict type check when use typescript, do this
const client = new Pantry<true>("xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx");
// this will disallow you to store something like Function and Date
// that cannot be represented in JSON format

Then, enjoy!

// The second parameter is the payload that you want your basket to have, it must be an object
// warning: this cannot an array. when typescript is used, it cannot pass the type check if you pass an array
await client.createBasket("ToDoList", { pending: [], complete: [] });

// This action will do a deep merge, rather than simply replace
const mergedToDoList = await client.updateBasket("ToDoList", { pending: ["Walk the Dog"] });

// Get the entire JSON as a parsed javascript object
const myToDoList = await client.getBasket("ToDoList");

// Delete the basket, this cannot be undone
await client.deleteBasket("ToDoList");

Or you can use a shortcut to operate on a specific basket

const basket = client.useBasket("ToDoList2");

await basket.create({ pending: [], complete: [] });
const mergedToDoList = await basket.update({ pending: ["Walk the Dog"] });
const myToDoList = await basket.get();
await basket.delete();

Get and set your account detail

// Get account detail information
const accountDetails = await client.getDetails();

// Update account information
const updatedAccountDetails = await client.updateDetails({ name: "pantry-sdk", description: "hello, world!" });

use fetch

This library requires fetch to work, howerever if the fetch function
is not mounted in global, you can also do this:

import Pantry from "pantry-sdk";
import fetch from "cross-fetch";

const client = new Pantry("xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx", fetch);
