Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

openui5-dist

The NPM package contains the OpenUI5 framework and the script for building the NPM package. This package does not modify openui5 content, it just packages it for distribution via NPM.

OpenUI5 is the open-source part of the SAPUI5 framework which is used to build SAP Fiory applications. You can freely use OpenUI5 in your projects.

Use openui5-dist NPM packageit to build OpenUI5 application

Install openui5-dist package in your project

npm install openui5-dist

And then serve the OpenUI5 file from NPM package.

Example for express

const app = express();

//Path to example application
app.use(express.static("./public/"));

//Path to openui5
app.use(express.static("./node_modules/openui5-dist/dist/"));

//Start web server
app.listen("3000", function() {
	    console.log("Listening on port %d", "3000");
});

Example application

I have created the example application which uses OpenUI5 framework packaged by the openui5-dist package.

To use the application clone repository

git clone https://github.com/norbertvolf/openui5-dist-example.git

Install dependencies

cd openui5-dist-example
npm install

Run web server

npm start

And open the http://localhost:3000/index.js in your browser;

Use it to build your own OpenUI5 distribution

You can use index.js to prepare OpenUI5 distribution and then use it. The script clone openui5 repository to the working directory and then build the OpenUI5. When OpenUI5 is ready It copies the OpenUI5 files to the dist directory of the project and You can use npm publish to upload the openui5 files to the npm registry.

I have tested the script only on my linux machine.

Create your own openui5 distribution

git clone [email protected]:norbertvolf/openui5-dist.git
cd openui5-dist
npm install

Update version in the package.json by corresponding version of OpenUI5 framework and run the script for building the OpenUI5 distribution.

node ./bin/publish.js
