Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

online-sourcemap-lookup

A tool for consuming source maps directly from production environments.

Built because we regularly get bug reports in the form of line numbers and column numbers in our compiled and minified JavaScript production code. Having source maps on production (preferably hidden from customers) or local allows us to map these stack trace errors to original source code.

Usage

Install with npm install -g online-sourcemap-lookup, then run online-sourcemap-lookup -h for detailed usage.

Lookup of production uglified,minified,compressed,... javascript stack trace line and column number and display actual source code location.

Usage:
	online-sourcemap-lookup <http://domain/path/to/js/file.js>:<line number>:<column number> [options]

valid [options]:
-h, --help Show this help message.
	-v, --version Show current version.
-A The number of lines to print after the target line. Default is 5.
-B The number of lines to print before the target line. Default is 5.
-C The number of lines to print before and after the target line. If supplied, -A and -B are ignored.
-s <sourcepath> Provide a path to the actual source files, this will be used to find the file to use when printing the lines from the source file. Default is ./
-m <source-map-url> Provide a URL to the actual source maps file, this will be used to lookup source maps. Default is the same as .js URL location. Example: http://domain/path/to/js/source/maps/

Example output

Ran the following command: online-sourcemap-lookup http://localhost:9401/my-site/static/main.1ae303a6f8b6caf24b4e.js:1:683258 -s /project/source/code/path/ -m http://localhost:9401/my-site/static/source-maps to get this output:
