path-exists

Given an object, tells you if a path through its keys exists. e.g. Is ['countries', 'US', 'states', 'MA', 'cities', 'Somerville'] in an addresses object?

Seems trivial, but I've copied this to several modules, so I'm packaging it.

Installation

npm install object-path-exists

Usage

var pathExists = require('object-path-exists');

var addresses = {
  countries: {
    'USA': {
      states: {
        IL: {},
        MA: {
          cities: {
            Somerville: {
              streets: []
            }
          }
        }
      }
    },
    'Canada': {
      'provinces': {
        'Alberta': {}
      }
    }
  }
};

pathExists(addresses, ['countries', 'USA', 'states', 'MA', 'cities', 'Somerville'])
// true
pathExists(addresses, ['countries', 'Canada', 'states', 'MA', 'cities', 'Somerville'])
// false
