Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

NotifyService

NotifyService is a robust Node.js module designed to seamlessly manage notifications. Whether you need to track new notifications or send them to your servers, NotifyService has everything you need to get started quickly and efficiently.

Installation

Install NotifyService via npm:

npm install notify-services

Features

  • eventFeature: Easily send event-based notifications.
  • gpsFeature: Enable location-based notifications (details will be added in future updates).
  • ...
  • keywords: Use predefined constants to optimize the notification system for specific scenarios, such as notifying agents or suppliers.

Usage

Sending Promotional Notifications

Here’s an example of how to use the eventFeature to send a promotional notification:

Create a file named notify-service.ts:

import { eventFeature, keywords } from 'notify-services';

const SERVER_URL = 'http://localhost:3005';

const main = async () => {
    try {
        await eventFeature.sendNotifyPromotion(SERVER_URL, {
            user_name: 'John Doe',
            heading: 'New Promotion',
            content: 'Check out this exciting offer just for you!',
            call_to_action: 'Click here',
            company_name: 'Company',
            user_id: 3,
            keyword: keywords.NOTIFY_PROMOTION_AGENCY,
        });
    } catch (error) {
        console.error('Error sending notification:', error);
    }
};

main();

In this example:

  • sendNotifyPromotion: Sends a promotional notification to the specified server.
  • The payload contains details like the user’s name, promotion content, and call-to-action.

Receiving and Managing Notifications

NotifyService also allows you to receive and manage notifications for your users:

import { eventFeature } from 'notify-services';

const SERVER_URL = 'http://localhost:3005';

const main = async () => {
    try {
        // Get notifications for a user
        const user_id = 3; // Replace with the target user ID
        const notifications = await eventFeature.getNotification(
            user_id,
            SERVER_URL,
        );
        console.log('Notifications:', notifications);

        // Mark a notification as seen
        const notification_id = 1; // Replace with the target notification ID
        await eventFeature.seenNotification(notification_id, SERVER_URL);
    } catch (error) {
        console.error('Error handling notifications:', error);
    }
};

main();

In this example:

  • getNotification: Retrieves notifications for a specific user.
  • seenNotification: Marks a notification as seen.

Additional Features

NotifyService is continuously evolving, and more features—especially around location-based notifications.

    eventFeature,
    driverFeature,
    gpsFeature,
    ioFeature,
    regionsFeature,
    systemFeature,

} from 'notify-services';
