Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

buildcopier

What is it ?

buildcopier is a TypeScript library which translates online League of Legends builds into clipboard imports. This is the successor and upgraded version of its Python equivalent itemsetcopier which I do not support anymore.

The online build websites currently supported by buildcopier are MOBAfire, Mobalytics and OP.GG.

How to use it

First you must import and create an instance of BuildCopier :

import { BuildCopier } from "buildcopier";

// You can instantiate one by providing it the
// League of Legends version it should use

const bc = new BuildCopier("11.4.1");

// ... or by providing it a DDragon instance

import { DDragon } from "ddragon";

const ddragon = new DDragon("11.4.1");
const bc = new BuildCopier(ddragon);

You can also use the DDragon.getLatestVersion asynchronous function to fetch the latest version of the game.

When you have your BuildCopier instance, you can simply use the translating methods it provides. For example let's translate a MOBAfire build :

import { BuildCopier } from "buildcopier";

const bc = new BuildCopier("11.4.1");

// the name for the item set
const setName = "Graves Jungle S11";

// the URL of the MOBAfire guide
const url = "https://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/build/season-11-kami-challenger-graves-jungle-guide-530114";

// the index of the build we want (an invalid index will result in it being set to 0)
const buildIndex = 0;

bc.translateMobafire(setName, url, buildIndex).then((result) =>
{
    // we can now copy and paste the generated
    // clipboard import in League of Legends
    console.log(result);
}).catch((error) =>
{
    console.error("An error has occured: " + error);
});

Each translating method may have different parameters which are documented.

Dependencies

buildcopier uses superagent to make its HTTP requests, node-html-parser to parse HTML pages and he to decode HTML entities.

A test suite for DDragon is available under tests which is made using jest.

Web Application

buildcopier has been implemented as a web application on my website which you can use here !
