Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

node-package-cleaner

node-package-cleaner is a tool that helps you optimize your package.json by identifying and removing unused npm packages from your project. It helps reduce package size and speeds up build times by eliminating unnecessary dependencies.

Please note that this library is currently in development. Features and functionality may change as we work towards a stable release. We appreciate your feedback and contributions during this phase.This library is designed exclusively for Node.js server projects. It does not support other platforms or technologies. To ensure optimal performance and compatibility, please use this library within a Node.js environment.

Features

Installation

You can install node-package-cleaner globally:

npm install -g node-package-cleaner

Usage

To use node-package-cleaner, follow these steps:

  1. Navigate to Your Project Directory:

    Make sure you are in the root directory of your Node.js project.

    cd /path/to/your/project
    
  2. Run the Command:

    npm-cleanup
    
  3. Review the Output: The tool will list packages that are detected as unused. Review the list carefully.

  4. Verify Changes: Check your package.json to ensure that the unused packages have been removed. You may also run npm install to update your node_modules directory accordingly.

    npm install
