Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

NgxRouteParamsInput

NgxRouteParamsInput allows to use angular router params and query params as component @Input() without need to subscribe to router events in each component, e.g.

Works with Angular 9 (and some of latest 8.X.X versions, older - not guaranteed)

Instruction:

  1. Install lib:
npm install --save ngx-route-params-input

or via yarn:

yarn add ngx-route-params-input
  1. Import NgxRouteParamsInputModule to your module
import { NgModule } from '@angular/core';
import { UserRoutingModule } from './user-routing.module';
import { NgxRouteParamsInputModule } from 'ngx-route-params-input';

@NgModule({
  ...,
  imports: [
    ...
    NgxRouteParamsInputModule,
  ]
})
export class UserModule { }
  1. In routing module, change the component you want to get router params as @Inputs() to NgxRouteParamsInputComponent and pass component and data you want to transfer as route data config's special parameter ngxRouteParamsInput:
// routing module
import { NgModule } from '@angular/core';
import { Routes, RouterModule } from '@angular/router';
import { NgxRouteParamsInputComponent } from 'ngx-route-params-input';
import { UserComponent } from './components/user/user.component';

const routes: Routes = [{
  path: ':userId',
  component: NgxRouteParamsInputComponent,
  data: {
    ngxRouteParamsInput: {
      component: UserComponent,
      routeParams: {
        userId: 'userIdInput'
      },
      queryParams: {
       content: 'content'
      }
    }
  }
}];

@NgModule({
  imports: [RouterModule.forChild(routes)],
  exports: [RouterModule]
})
export class UserRoutingModule { }
// component code:
import { Component, Input } from '@angular/core';

@Component({
  selector: 'app-user',
  templateUrl: './user.component.html'
})
export class UserComponent {

  @Input()
  public userIdInput: string;

  @Input()
  public content: string;

}

Documentation:

Route data field 'ngxRouteParamsInput' structure:

export interface IRouteParamsComponentData {
    component: any; // component you want to render and pass props to
    routeParams?: any; // route params you want to pass
    queryParams?: any; // query params you want to pass
}

routeParams and queryParams has the following schema: { [paramName: string]: [inputName: string] }, e.g. the following code:

const routes: Routes = [{
  path: ':userId',
  component: NgxRouteParamsInputComponent,
  data: {
    ngxRouteParamsInput: {
      component: UserComponent,
      routeParams: {
        userId: 'userIdInput',
        iAmRouteParam: 'iAmInputParam'
      },
      queryParams: {
        content: 'content'
      }
    }
  }
}];

will pass "userId", iAmRouteParam route params and "content" query param as

@Input()
userIdInput: string;

@Input()
content: string

@Input('iAmInputParam')
componentPropertyWithOtherName: string

If there query and route params refers to the same input param, the route param will be passed and the query param will be ignored
