Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

ng-selector Build Status

Custom select to replace ng-select component

Example available on : https://taranys.github.io/ng-selector/

Instalation

  1. Install NgSelector

npm i ng-selector jquery selectize

  1. Include dependencies into angular.cli
"styles": [
  "../node_modules/selectize/dist/css/selectize.bootstrap3.css",
  "styles.css"
],
"scripts": [
  "../node_modules/jquery/dist/jquery.min.js",
  "../node_modules/selectize/dist/js/standalone/selectize.js"
],
  1. Add NgSelectorModule as dependency
import { NgModule } from '@angular/core';
import { NgSelectorModule } from 'ng-selector';

import { AppComponent } from './app.component';

@NgModule({
  declarations: [
    AppComponent
  ],
  imports: [
    ...,
    NgSelectorModule
  ],
  providers: [],
  bootstrap: [AppComponent]
})
export class AppModule { }

API

    <ng-selector
      [(ngModel)]="selectedObject"
      [options]="arrayOfObjects"
      [readonly]="disabled"
      [plugins]="['remove_button']"
      (loadValues)="fetchDataFromServer($event.query, $event.result)"
      (renderer)="render($event.item, $event.html)"
      placeholder="A placeholder..."
      id-field="uid" // customize id field name - 'id' by default
      label-field="name" // customize label field name - 'label' by default
      multiple="true" // allow multiple selection
      allow-creation="true" // allow user to manually enter a new value
      >
    </ng-selector>

Usage

Main usage is to let user select an object into an array of object. It is possible to do async data loading and custom rendering.

Simple selection

export class AppComponent {
  selected: any;

  values = [
    { id: 1, label: 'First value' },
    { id: 2, label: 'Second value' },
    { id: 3, label: 'Another one' },
    { id: 42, label: 'Best value' },
  ];
}
  <ng-selector name="selector" [(ngModel)]="selected" [options]="values"></ng-selector>

Custom object

export class AppComponent {
  values = [
    { uid: 1, nameOfObject: 'First value' },
    { uid: 2, nameOfObject: 'Second value' },
    { uid: 3, nameOfObject: 'Another one' },
    { uid: 42, nameOfObject: 'Best value' },
  ];

  selected = this.values[0];
}
  <ng-selector name="selector" [(ngModel)]="selected" [options]="values" id-field="uid" label-field="nameOfObject"></ng-selector>

Multiple selection

  <ng-selector name="selector" [(ngModel)]="selected" [options]="values"
      multiple="true" placeholder="Choose any values you want...">
  </ng-selector>

Integration with NgForm

export class AppComponent {
  values = [
    { id: 1, name: 'First value' }, { id: 2, name: 'Second value' },
    { id: 3, name: 'Another one' }, { id: 42, name: 'Best value' },
  ];

  selected = this.values[0];

  get disabled() {
    return this.formConfirmed;
  }
}
  <ng-selector name="selector" [(ngModel)]="selected" [options]="values" [readonly]="disabled" required>
  </ng-selector>

Async data loading

export class AppComponent {
  selected: any;

  constructor(private http: Http) {}

  fetchServer(event) {
     this.http.get(`${url}?search=${event.query}`)
        .subscribe(response => event.result(response.json()));
  }
}
  <ng-selector name="selector" [(ngModel)]="selected" (loadValues)="fetchServer($event)"></ng-selector>

Custom rendering

/!\ rendering function has to be sync

export class AppComponent {
  selected: any;

  customRendering(renderer) {
    const item = renderer.val;
    renderer.html(`<small>${item.id} - ${item.label}</small>`);
  }
}
  <ng-selector name="selector" [(ngModel)]="selected" (renderer)="customRendering($event)"></ng-selector>
