Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

npm

NPM is a package manager for Node.js packages, or modules if you like.

Lession

Use the npm init command to create a package.json file for your application:

npm init

This command prompts you for a number of things, such as the name and version of your application. For now, you can simply hit RETURN to accept the defaults.

We now install a dependency we need in the next lession:

npm install formidable

npm installs formidable in node_modules folder and adds the dependency to the package.json. In addition, a file package-lock.json is created to specify the exact installed versions of the dependencies.
