modella-defaults
Modella plugin to add a bit of lenience to default values.
Usage
var Mustard = model('Mustard')
.use(defaults)
.attr('flavor', { default : 'Spicy' })
.attr('color', { default : 'Golden' })
.attr('name', { default : function () { return this.flavor() + ' ' + this.color() });
var mustard = new Mustard({ color : 'Brown' });
mustard.name(); // 'Spicy Brown'
What about IE6/7?
Default is technically a reserved keyword, so IE6/7 will break when parsing it in an object literal. It just looks so good in the api...
You can quote your literal keys if you want to support those.
model
.attr('x', { 'default' : 'y' });
