Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

MERN Forge

MERN Forge is a powerful tool for quickly generating MERN (MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, Node.js) stack projects with ease. It provides a command-line interface (CLI) to initialize your MERN project and generate code based on your requirements.

Getting Started

To use MERN Forge, follow the steps below:

Step 1: Installation

Make sure you have Node.js installed on your machine. Then, open your terminal and run the following command to install MERN Forge globally:

npm install mern-forge-cli-tool -g

Step 2: Initializing Your Project

To start a new MERN project, navigate to your project directory in the terminal and run the following command:

npx mern-forge init

This command will generate a configuration file named mern-forge.config.js in your project directory. Open this file and customize the configuration according to your project requirements.

Step 3: Generating Code

Once you have initialized your project and customized the configuration file, you can generate the code for your MERN application. Run the following command in your project directory:

npx mern-forge generate

This command will prompt you to select an option for generating the code:

  1. React - CRA: Generates a React application using CRA.
  2. React - Vite: Generates a React application using Vite.

Choose the desired option and MERN Forge will generate the corresponding application along with the backend code.

That's it! You have successfully initialized your MERN project and generated the code using MERN Forge.

Additional Information

  • Make sure to run the init command first to create the configuration file before running the generate command.
  • You can modify the configuration file (mern-forge.config.js) to add or remove features, customize database settings, and more.
  • The generated code will be placed in the appropriate project structure based on the selected options.

For more information and advanced usage, please refer to the MERN Forge documentation.
