Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Internet and Exams: the Future of Education

Let us fantasize a little bit and imagine the alternative educational system of the future that excludes the need of memorization of information or learning to pass the exam. We are accustomed to the fact that on the exam we have only our own mind, which we fill with information in order to pass the exam successfully. A piece of paper and a pencil remained in the past century, since now we have different gadgets to connect to the Internet, which stimulate us to remember less information, since the approach to the web is always available anywhere and at any time.

Imagine that you have a question like "How to clean up Mac space?" and the tablet in your hands. You can do anything: search for the answers in the web or text your friends, as you wish. That sounds pretty easy, and you are assured that any exam could be passed in this kind of system. The tutors will encourage you not to memorize anything since you have Google search; you do not have to have a good hand-writing because you need to type, you do not have to learn the spelling or grammar because the machine will correct all of your mistakes.

The old system of education is aimed at storing and analyzing information. The idea described above is a reminiscent of some science fiction movie plot, where people just pass the data through the brain and do not perform any reaction to it. Surely, the gadgets are beneficial, they can simplify the process of assimilation and storage of information and give the approach to any necessary data anytime, but they also are up to simplify the process of our thinking. One should keep in mind that the society that moves on the way of simplification and maximum comfort must know where to stop. Read more info here: https://macblogger.org/
