Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

DISCLAIMER: This is purely a proof of concept now. It's not ready to really do much of anything yet until I build out a map editing API.

Celeste map making tools written in node.js

Prerequisites

Install

npm install --save lucid-dream

Configuration

All you need to do do is tell lucid-dream where to find your Celeste installation via the celesteDir property of the config/lucid-dream.json file. Here's a few of the default locations:

  • Steam (Window): C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Celeste
  • Steam (Mac): ~/Library/Application\ Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Celeste/Celeste.app/Contents/MacOS

API Docs

Full API documentation can be found at http://tonylukasavage.github.io/lucid-dream/

Contact

Easiest way to get a hold of me is to drop me a message in the BloodSweatAndCode's Lab discord. Check the #lucid-dev channel for stuff related to lucid-dream, or feel free to roam around in the other channels dedicated to my other major project, CV2R - Castlevania 2 Randomizer.

Credits

The real map editing kings are Vexatos and Cruor. They created:

  • Maple - Julia API for developing Celeste maps
  • Ahorn - Visual map maker and level editor for Celeste
  • Loenn (WIP) - The next evolution in visual map making for Celeste (Ahorn's eventual successor)

All these repos can be found at the Celestial Cartogrpahers github page. Those tools are the ones you really want to be looking at for Celeste map building. Additionally, if you want to learn more about Celeste map building or get in touch with Vexatos or Cruor, you can find them in the Celeste discord on the #map_making channel.

Big thanks to Vexatos specifically for helping me understand how Maple works and giving me lots of details on the Celeste bin file format.
