Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Logs

Logs is a TypeScript library that makes it easy to write logs on local files and sending messages to Discord.

Installation

You can install the Log library using npm or yarn:

npm install log-discord

or

yarn add log-discord

or

bun add log-discord

Usage

Here's an example of how to use the Log library:

import Log from "log-discord";

// Set the webhook URL
Log.webhookUrl =
	"https://discord.com/api/webhooks/1234567890/abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz";

// Write a log message
Log.info("This is an info log message");
Log.error("This is an error log message");
Log.warning("This is a warning log message");
Log.debug("This is a debug log message");
Log.emergency("This is an emergency log message");
Log.critical("This is a critical log message");

// Write a log message with context
const context = {
	userId: "1234567890",
	userName: "Riode Prabowo",
	ipAddress: "192.168.1.1",
};
Log.info("This is an info log message with context", context);

Functions

The Log library provides various functions for writing logs at different levels of severity:

  • Log.info(message: string, context?: any): Write an info log message
  • Log.error(message: string, context?: any): Write an error log message
  • Log.warning(message: string, context?: any): Write a warning log message
  • Log.debug(message: string, context?: any): Write a debug log message
  • Log.emergency(message: string, context?: any): Write an emergency log message
  • Log.critical(message: string, context?: any): Write a critical log message

You can send log messages with additional context by passing it as a parameter to the functions.

Configuration

You can configure the Log library by setting the following properties:

set from the environment

LOG_FOLDER_PATH=./logs 	// default: ./logs
LOG_DAYS_TO_KEEP=7 // default: 7 (keep logs for 7 days) set to 0 to keep logs forever
DISCORD_WEBHOOK_URL= 	// default: null
DISCORD_FOOTER_TEXT=	// default: 'Sent by Log'

What does it look like?

You can get a preview of what it looks like using each of the provided converters. Example Image
